My sourdough starter went moldy after a week in the fridge
I left my starter in the back of the fridge during a heatwave last July, and when I pulled it out there was green fuzz on top. I tried scraping it off and feeding it again, but the whole thing just smelled like rotten fruit after two days. Has anyone successfully saved a starter that got mold or did I just waste 6 months of nurturing?

The green fuzz is a hard pass for me. I tried to save a moldy starter once with the scrape-and-feed method and ended up with something that looked like a science experiment gone wrong. It just turned into a stinky mess that even the compost pile didn't want. Sometimes you just gotta start over and call it a learning experience.

Is it really that serious though, @willow_ellis? It’s just bread.

Stinky mess the compost pile didn't want" is insane, @piper_dixon45 did you actually smell it though?
