The bakery on 5th in Portland puts shortening in their buttercream and folks line up for it
I stopped by a small shop on 5th Ave in Portland last weekend, and while I was waiting I noticed the baker pulling a tub of shortening out for the buttercream instead of just using butter. It made me think about how many people actually prefer that lighter, less rich frosting over a straight butter one, even though everyone online acts like all-butter is the only way. Am I the only one who thinks a good buttercream can have a little shortening and still be worth eating?
