Rest the batter 30 minutes before piping, it fixed my cracking problem completely.

Six hours for macarons seems like a lot of time to spend on a cookie, cracked or not. Resting the batter might help, but at some point you have to ask if the end result is worth the effort. I've seen folks spend half a day on these things and then they eat them in five minutes. Maybe just buy them from a decent bakery next time and save yourself the frustration. A cracked macaron still tastes fine, I'd wager.
