Got weird looks at a Chase branch in Portland for paying my credit card in cash
I was in downtown Portland last Tuesday and needed to make a $340 payment on my Chase card. The teller actually asked me three times if I was sure I wanted to use cash, and the manager came over to watch. Is cash really that unusual for credit card payments now, or was that just a Portland thing? Anyone else run into this at a big bank lately?

Cash is still pretty normal at most banks around here, maybe the teller was just new or having a weird day. Kinda rude for the manager to hover like that though.

Right? I had almost the same thing happen last month. Walked into my regular branch with a check and cash back request and the teller looked at me like I was asking for Monopoly money. She actually had to call over a senior teller just to confirm they could do it. Like it's not that complicated people have been doing cash back at banks since forever. The manager hovering sounds super uncomfortable though, I hate when they micromanage like that for no reason. Definitely seems like some places are trying to phase out cash without actually saying it out loud.
