My bank kept reversing a $600 deposit from a grain hauler in Salina, so I tried calling the originating bank instead
I do short hauls out of Kansas and a few of my loads pay by direct deposit from the broker's bank, not mine. Last month a $600 deposit for a Salina run bounced back twice with no explanation, and my bank's phone tree just kept sending me to the same guy who read the same script about waiting periods. Out of frustration I called the brokerage's bank directly using the routing number on the remittance slip, and their rep found the deposit sitting in a holding queue because my account name did not match exactly, middle initial missing. Took 20 minutes and it hit my account that same day. Has anyone else had luck going straight to the sending bank instead of your own?
Learning new things about bank stuff is basically my whole personality at this point, which is a sad thing to admit about myself. Had no clue you could even call the other bank in a case like this. My gut says they are not supposed to talk to you since you are not their customer, so you maybe got lucky with a rep who felt like helping. The name match thing is real though, I got a check held once because I put my middle initial on the deposit slip but not on my account. Worth a shot next time something gets stuck in limbo, worst they can do is tell you no.
