Picked a credit union over a big bank. No regrets.

Had to open a new checking account after moving to Austin. Went back and forth between Chase and a local credit union called UFCU. Picked the credit union because they had 2.5% APY on their checking. Took me 15 minutes to open the account online. Chase wanted a minimum balance of $1,500 just to avoid fees. Now I'm getting like $12 a month in interest for doing nothing. Anyone else make the switch and stick with it?

That Chase minimum balance sounds like a hostage situation.

2500 bucks just sitting there doing nothing. @sarah198 that's exactly what it feels like. They hold your money hostage and call it a service. Even a basic savings account at a credit union usually only needs 5 bucks to open.
