Realized I was the problem with book challenges at my kid's school library
I used to submit challenges to the school board every time my 8th grader brought home a book with language I didn't like. Last month, a librarian in Akron gently asked me to actually read the whole book before filing. Turned out the book I was mad about had a chapter about facing bullying that my kid needed. Now I spend my energy talking to teachers instead of filling out complaint forms. Has anyone else here backed off after realizing their own blind spots?
