Appreciation post: Got a 7-day suspension for a zoning comment on Nextdoor

I pointed out a city council member's new deck was likely built without a permit, and my post got flagged as 'targeted harassment'. The thing that tipped me off was seeing the official permit website myself, which showed nothing filed for that address. How do you handle it when you know you're factually right but the platform's rules get twisted to silence you?

Ugh, that's the worst. It's like they use "harassment" as a catch-all to shut down any criticism, especially when it's aimed at someone with a bit of clout. You did the actual homework and checked the public records, which is more than most people do. I'd be tempted to take screenshots of the permit site and send it to a local news tip line, because a council member skipping permits is a story. The suspension is just proof the system protects itself.

Honestly the real question is who else on the council knew and looked the other way.

Wait, did I read that right about a suspension? I only saw the original post about the permit issue. If they actually suspended someone for pointing out a missing permit, that's way past just ignoring the problem. That feels like a full-on punishment for doing a public records check, which is just nuts. It changes the whole thing from a possible oversight to a real cover-up move.
