Got banned from a local hiking Facebook group for mentioning a trail closure

Last month in the PNW Hikers group, I posted about the Heather Lake trail being closed due to a bear encounter. An admin banned me for 'spreading panic' even though the USFS had it posted on their site. I just started my own small group instead to share real trail conditions. Anyone else had mods shut you down for sharing factual info?

Oh man, did something similar happen to my friend Jen? She posted in a Colorado hiking group about a washed-out bridge on the Herman Gulch trail, real simple warning with a photo. The admin told her she was "scaring people away from a beautiful area" and banned her too. She ended up making a separate Instagram page just for trail alerts, and now it's got like 400 followers who actually want to know where not to twist an ankle.

That's honestly awesome that @emma768's friend Jen turned a bad situation into something that actually helps people! More admins should realize that warning about hazards isn't "scaring people away" it's making sure they come back in one piece.
