My backup blog got taken down last month for a post about local politics
I wrote about a city council vote in my town, and the hosting site said it broke their rules on 'political content'. They shut the whole blog down without warning. I lost about 40 posts I had saved there. Now I'm just posting the same stuff on a self-hosted site and sharing links directly with people. Has anyone else had a host pull the plug like that?

That's messed up they nuked your whole blog over local politics. Losing 40 posts with no warning is brutal. I've seen hosts get jumpy about political stuff but that's extreme. Self hosting is smart, you control your own content that way. Sucks you had to learn the hard way though.

Yeah, tell me about it. My blog got Thanos snapped over a post about a new stop sign. The hosting company must have thought local traffic planning was a call to arms. Now I'm self hosting from a raspberry pi in my closet, which feels about as stable as it sounds. At least the only one who can take it down now is my cat unplugging it for warmth.
