My neighbor told me I was wrong about the HOA rule and she was right
She pointed out the exact line in the bylaws during our argument on her porch last Thursday, and I realized I was fighting a ban that didn't even exist - has anyone else been called out like that?

Well, I used to think I had all the HOA rules memorized cold, but last spring I got told off about parking on the street overnight. Turns out I had the wrong year's bylaws saved on my phone, and my neighbor was right about the amendment. It was humbling to admit I was wrong, but it made me actually sit down and read the whole packet cover to cover. Now I keep a printed copy in my truck.

And that printed copy is a game changer for sure, because digital files can be outdated the second an amendment passes. I actually started keeping a binder in my garage with the covenants and meeting minutes from the last two years after I got burned by an old email attachment. Now when the HOA president starts quoting a rule I don't recognize, I just walk over and flip to the exact page in my binder.
