Vent: my barber in Reno told me my bad review got shadow hidden by Yelp and now I'm wondering how many others vanish
He said his one star reviews from real customers got buried while the fake five stars stayed up, which made me check my own post from August about a delivery driver and sure enough not one friend could find it unless I sent them the link, so does anyone know a workaround to see what still shows up?
Honestly man, this whole shadow hiding thing gets blown way out of proportion every time it comes up. Yelp has an algorithm that filters reviews for a reason, and yeah sometimes real ones get caught in it, but that does not mean there is some big plan to bury your one star posts. I have had reviews disappear too and it usually comes back or it was just flagged by the filter for dumb stuff like wording or account age. If you want to see what still shows up, just open your post in a private browser window while logged out, that is the easiest workaround and it takes two seconds. Sending a link to friends proves nothing because links always work even on hidden stuff, so that test was never gonna tell you much. Ngl people act like Yelp is out to get them personally when mostly it is just bots and filters doing their thing badly.
