Pro tip: Screenshot every moderation message before you reply to it
Last month I wrote back to a mod on a vintage car forum defending a post about leaded fuel additives. They deleted my whole account before I could copy the original warning. Now I always take a screenshot first, just in case.

Man, I used to think screenshots were just paranoid overkill but after I got nuked from a music gear forum for a dumb reply I now screenshot everything before I even write back. It's just smart to have a copy of what they said first in case they try to change it or disappear. Protects your side of the story if things go sideways.

Oh man, you're totally right and it goes way beyond just forums too. I've started noticing this pattern everywhere now - people ghosting after making commitments, sellers deleting listings with higher prices, even friends who say one thing in a text then claim they meant something else later. It's like everyone's got a backup plan to rewrite history if it benefits them. The screenshots feel paranoid until you actually need one and don't have it. I've got a folder on my phone just for screenshots of price quotes from contractors and dates people gave me for stuff. Feels dumb until someone tries to say they told you a different price or timeline and you've got proof. It's not about being untrusting, it's just that people are flaky and forgetful and sometimes straight up dishonest. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.
