Walked into a job site in Cleveland and saw a drafter using a 3D scanner on an old warehouse

Those old warehouses in Cleveland usually have bad floor sag, and a plain tape measure won't catch that. A 3D scanner picks up every bow and tilt so your new drawings match reality instead of guessing. Spent a week fixing someone's drawings last year because they didn't account for a six-inch slope in the middle of a floor.

Found an old Silver Age issue in a garage cleanout last weekend

Garage cleanouts are the new mint condition apparently, maybe I should start digging through my grandpa's junk lmao.

Spent $250 on a fancy email marketing tool and it killed my open rates

Used to think expensive tools were better, not anymore.

Warning: Dropped $400 on a fancy anti-two-block system for my Liebherr...

I gotta push back a little here. The false alarms aren't a flaw in the system, they're just part of the deal when you're working in tight spots with trees and other junk around. I've run my ultrasonic anti-two-block on a dozen different jobs this month alone and I'd rather get a few false alarms from willow branches than risk snapping a cable because I couldn't see what was happening. You can always silence it real quick or use the manual override button if you know the branch isn't a real hazard. That one second it takes to hit the mute is way better than replacing a $400 cable or worse, hurting someone.

Unpopular opinion: I used to think sourdough starter was overrated, then last Tuesday changed my mind

100% agreed. Using an established starter skips the whole frustrating lag phase where you're just feeding flour and water with no payoff. Your neighbor's starter already has a strong bacterial balance and yeast colony that took weeks to build. Starting from scratch is a crapshoot because your kitchen environment can make it smell like feet for a month. I did the same thing with a friend's 50 year old starter and my first loaf was better than anything I'd made in two years. She also gave me her exact feeding ratio which helped way more than any online guide. Stick with her schedule and your discard will be solid in no time.
