TIL my take on homework got me kicked off a teachers' forum
I was on this site where teachers talk shop, and I posted as a parent. I said homework is mostly busywork that stresses kids out for no real gain. A bunch of folks jumped on me, saying I was undermining education. Then poof, my posts were gone and I was locked out for 'causing disputes'. It made me see that some groups just want an echo chamber, not real talk. My kid comes home exhausted every day, and the worksheets never help him learn. Getting shut out for saying that showed me how scared people are of different ideas. I guess some truths are too uncomfortable for certain corners of the internet.

You talk about echo chambers, but have you ever considered teachers need a space without parents second guessing every choice? Maybe homework isn't about the worksheets, it's about building discipline. You get kicked out for not even trying to see their side.

Ugh, @cooper.kai... that "space" just sounds like another echo chamber to me. Parents have a right to question things when real learning gets lost in busywork.
