Changed my mind about those 'free speech' meme ban petitions after losing $50 to a scam
Signaled a petition to save a banned meme from a major platform, paid $50 for expedited processing, and the site vanished a week later no refund. Anyone else get burned by these fake activism sites?

Honestly, losing $50 to some random petition site is a bummer, but it's not like you lost your life savings or anything. People act like these meme bans are a huge deal but it's really just internet drama dressed up as activism. I bet that site was just some sketchy operation cashing in on people who think a funny picture being removed is some kind of civil rights violation. You probably should've checked if the site was even legit before handing over cash for "expedited processing" which sounds like a scam from the start. Tbh, the only thing that got burned here was your wallet and maybe your judgment, not free speech or whatever.

The real scam is that "expedited processing" for an online petition doesn't even exist, it's just a way to make people feel like their signature matters more than anyone else's.
