My meme about the Portland city council got removed from three places in one hour
I made a simple image last Thursday comparing their new policy to a scene from a famous movie. It got taken down from a big social site, a local forum, and even a smaller image board, all saying it was 'misinformation.' I think it's crazy that a joke about local politics gets treated like a real threat. What's a good site that actually lets you post stuff like that now?

You mentioned the HOA making your cousin take down a yard sign about zoning. That's actually a bit different from what the original post is talking about. The post is about getting removed from websites for a political meme, which is a free speech issue with a private company. An HOA is more like a contract you agree to live under, so they can set rules about what's in your yard. Both are annoying, but the reasons and the power they have are not the same.

My cousin in Austin had a yard sign about their mayor's zoning plan last year... just a funny cartoon. The HOA made him take it down in two days, said it was "visual noise." He ended up putting it in his front window instead, where they couldn't touch it. Sometimes you just have to find the little spot they forgot to make a rule about.

Ever wonder if HOAs have a secret rulebook for being the fun police? My own HOA once sent a letter because my kid's bike was the wrong shade of blue.
