Honestly, those chats can get messy fast. My group just made a separate "serious debate" channel for politics and big topics. Keeps the main one for memes and weekend plans. We also use the mute feature for a few hours when someone gets too heated. It's not perfect, but it stops the whole thing from blowing up. What rules did your chat land on?
