Appreciation post: My framer's trick for a tricky cathedral ceiling saved us a week

That's a slick fix! We did something similar with a flitch plate in an LVL for a tricky cantilever, and the inspector loved it.

PSA: I got a 30 day ban from a local Facebook group for pointing out a city council member's arrest record during a debate about a new park.

Yeah exactly, facts are facts. It's not even about the drama really. They just want to control what gets seen. A voting record is public info, but posting it makes them look bad, so they call it "causing trouble" and take it down. It's a way to shut down talk without having to argue about the facts themselves. Happens all the time now.

Just wasted $400 on a solar panel kit that barely works

800 watts down to 150 is a straight up scam. Brianhernandez is right, they always hide behind "peak" ratings that you'll never actually see. Those cheap batteries are basically fancy paperweights after a few cycles. You basically paid $400 to learn why proper solar costs real money.

Figured out a way to cut 2 miles off the loop at Red River Gorge by crossing a dry creek bed

Cutting two miles is nice for time, but it's just a hike. The gorge views are the same either way you go. Not exactly a life changing shortcut.

A customer's comment made me rethink my diagnostic process

What if the two callbacks were for big things that really matter? Getting those right could be way more important than a bunch of small wins. Focusing on fixing those might be the real goal here.
