Three months ago I thought the ban on that 'firefighter rescue' meme was stupid. Then I found out what actually happened.
I used to just share whatever got my attention, including that meme that showed a firefighter rescuing someone but with a weird caption about government control. I figured it was just another harmless joke getting scrubbed by overzealous mods. Then last month I actually read the full story behind the image it was a real photo from a rescue that got twisted into a false narrative about FEMA. Now I actually check the source before I share anything, even if it seems funny or important. Has anyone else had a meme they defended at first but later changed their mind on?

What specific detail made you finally trust the source?

Trusting a source usually comes down to a single detail for me. Honestly though, I think people overthink this. Like, is it really that serious? If the info lines up with a couple other places I can check, I'm good. But one thing that always makes me suspicious is when a source feels too perfect. You know, when it sounds exactly like what you want to hear or it's way too neat and tidy. Real life is messy and so is most reliable info. So yeah, I'm skeptical of anything that feels like it's trying too hard to be the final word.
