Clipper vs. straight razor for the nape line - found out the hard way

I always used clippers for the back of the neck but tried a straight razor on a regular last week because a buddy swore it looked cleaner. One slip with the razor and the guy had a tiny cut that bled forever, took 10 minutes to stop. Anyone else stick to clippers for the nape or am I just unlucky?

Oof yeah that's rough man, straight razors are no joke for anyone who isn't super steady-handed. It's like that whole thing where people think fancy tools automatically make things better but sometimes the simple option is safer and gets the job done just fine. Clippers might not look as sharp up close but they won't send someone to urgent care over a neck line.

And yeah @ericfox, that's honestly the thing - people act like using the old school tools makes you some kind of artisan but a slip up with a straight razor is way worse than a slightly fuzzy line from clippers. I guess it's all about what the person actually needs vs what looks cool on Instagram.

My cousin tried giving himself a straight razor shave after watching one too many youtube videos @blake_smith and ended up with bandaids all over his face for a week. Clippers never did him that dirty.

Used to love the aesthetics but you're totally right.
