Clippers don't need to be ice cold, that's a myth I bought for years

I used to spray my clippers with coolant every ten minutes and keep them in a chilled drawer between cuts. Thought it was what the pros did, saw it in a few videos. Then a old timer in Houston, been cutting 30 years, watched me do it and just laughed. He said warm metal cuts fine as long as the blades are sharp and oiled, the cold only makes the motor work harder and stutter on thick hair. I switched to a simple routine, oil before every head, no coolant unless it's a full day of thick fades, and my cuts got smoother. My clipper blades last way longer too, stopped replacing them every 3 months. Anyone else was taught this and dropped it after a shop talk or a bad experience?

Man, you made that whole thing way more complicated than it needed to be. Coolant in a chilled drawer? That's not pro stuff, that's just extra steps. A sharp blade and a little oil does the job, period. The cold thing might help in some crazy specific situation, but most of us aren't cutting 30 heads a day in a heat wave. You were probably overthinking it because some video made it look cool. Glad you found what works, but honestly it's just basic maintenance. Some guys swear by ice packs for their clippers, but they're the same guys who change their oil every 1,000 miles.
