I keep telling guys to stop using those cheap clipper blades from Amazon

Had a guy come in last month with a burn line on his neck from a blade that chipped mid-fade. Told him I only use Wahl or Oster blades, he said his were half the price. Has anyone else seen more of these cheap blades causing issues lately?

Honestly I saw a video from a barber supply shop guy on YouTube talking about this exact thing. He said the cheap blades use a softer steel that can't hold an edge and they're more likely to chip or warp from the heat. I think it's nuts people risk cutting someone's skin just to save 15 bucks. A bad blade can mess up a fade and leave a scar or infection if it's not cleaned right. Plus those cheap ones don't stay sharp long so you're replacing them more often anyway. It's not worth the headache for anyone doing actual work.

Also worth thinking about how those cheap blades can affect the clipper itself. I've seen guys bring in trimmers that sound like they're grinding rocks because the blade alignment is off from a cheap replacement. That kind of wear can mess up the motor or the drive mechanism over time. A fifteen dollar blade might end up costing you a whole new pair of clippers.
