Got banned from a local gardening group for posting a photo of my compost bin

I joined this neighborhood gardening group on Facebook to swap tips, and last week I posted a picture of my new compost bin I built from pallets. Thought it was harmless, but the mod messaged me saying it violated their 'no DIY pest attractants' rule because rats might show up. I argued that proper composting doesn't attract pests if you do it right, but they booted me anyway. Has anyone else been kicked out of a hyper-specific group for something that seemed totally normal?

Honestly, @miles277 I gotta push back a little here because proper composting is actually pretty tidy and doesn't have to look like a dumpster at all. My bin has a lid and I keep the greens and browns balanced so it barely even smells. Seems harsh to ban someone over what they might attract rather than what's actually happening.

Wait, are you seriously telling me you thought a pile of rotting kitchen scraps in a wooden box was gonna fly in a group full of people obsessed with manicured roses? It's not about whether you're right about rats, it's about optics. Those mods gotta protect their image from anyone who might make the whole group look like a back alley dumpster.
