Got banned from a local hiking group for pointing out that their "leave no trace" posts still showed a campfire ring in every photo
I called out the hypocrisy after 4 months of watching the admin post scenic shots with visible fire scars, and they booted me within 20 minutes has anyone else seen this selective enforcement issue in outdoor communities?

Man that REALLY sucks. You did the right thing by pointing it out, and they just showed their true colors. Been there myself with a local birding group where the mods would post photos from clearly marked off-limits areas during nesting season but got defensive when anyone mentioned it. Selective enforcement is SO common in these outdoor circles because it's more about the social clout than the actual principles half the time. Hope you find a group that actually walks the walk instead of just posting pretty pictures for likes.

oh yeah, that selective enforcement thing drives me crazy lol. there's this hiking group i was in where one of the mods would literally go off trail in delicate alpine meadows to get "the shot" and everyone would gush over it. but when some new guy pointed out a bootleg trail that was forming, they banned him for being "negative." it's like the rules only apply to people who aren't part of the inner circle. makes the whole thing feel super fake honestly.
