Got muted on a fishing forum in March for posting a pic of a trout I caught in a no-kill zone
Back in March I posted a photo on a local fishing forum of a 14 inch rainbow I pulled out of a catch and release stream near Boise, not knowing the rules there. A mod removed it in maybe 10 minutes and sent me a message saying I was muted for 30 days. I messaged back that I put the fish back and had a video of the release, but he said the photo alone was enough because people would copy it. So I sat out the mute, and when I came back I noticed three other guys posting stringers from the same stream with no punishment at all. Has anyone else been muted for something the mods let slide for other people?
Same thing happens everywhere, not just fishing boards. I got a week long ban from a truck group for a joke a guy made the exact same joke about two days later and got like 40 likes. The mods there always seemed to come down harder on new guys while the old regulars could post whatever. It's like once you're in the club the rules stop applying, and the people running these places honestly don't even see it. That trout thing sounds dumb too since you had video of the release, but I guess a pic is all it takes for some mod on a power trip.
