Just found out my local woodworking forum banned me for 'tone'

I posted in a woodworking group about how someone's dovetail jig setup was way too complicated for a simple box joint. I said it looked like overkill for what they were building. Next morning I got a message saying I was banned for 'negative tone'. I asked for specifics but they just said the mods decided. Has anyone else gotten kicked out of a hobby forum for just being direct about a tool or method?

People get way too precious about their hobbies. I've seen it in car forums, fishing groups, even a model train club I poked around once. Someone points out a simpler way to do something and the mods act like you insulted their grandmother's china. It's like once a hobby turns into an identity, any criticism feels personal to them. Good luck finding a woodworking group that doesn't ban you for telling the truth about dovetail jigs.

Man, that's rough. I got kicked out of a baking forum once for saying someone's sourdough starter looked like a science experiment gone wrong. Guess they didn't appreciate my "honest feedback" either. I guess the takeaway is that some mods really can't handle bluntness, even if you're just trying to help someone avoid a hassle. At least your ban is for something that makes sense in woodworking, not for criticizing bread. Now I'm wondering if my local quilting group is going to come after me next for saying a pattern was outdated.
