So last month, I forced myself to start 'Joe Pera Talks With You', which is just a calm show about a quiet guy in Michigan. It changed how I see a binge, honestly. Watching a guy frame a wall in a downpour last year changed my approach to prep

I was grabbing coffee in Tacoma and saw this old timer setting up a wall section in a parking lot as the rain started coming down hard. He just calmly pulled a tarp from his truck, rigged a quick lean-to over his work, and kept going without missing a beat. Just picked a new drawing tablet after months of going back and forth

I had to choose between a big screen tablet and a smaller one without a screen. I went with the smaller Huion model because my old laptop can't handle a screen tablet well. After using it for a week, my line work is way cleaner and my wrist doesn't hurt. Has anyone else switched from a screen tablet to a regular one and been surprised?

I used to think the best way to ask a question here was to be super vague, but a post about fixing a leaky faucet changed my mind.

For the longest time, I'd see posts that were just like 'how do I fix this?' with a blurry picture. I thought being open-ended got more ideas. I already replaced the washer with a 3/4 inch size from the hardware store, but it's still leaking. The brand is Delta.' The answers were so much better and faster. People knew exactly what cartridge to suggest. It made me realize being specific isn't being picky, it's being helpful. It saves everyone time. Showerthought: I heard a kid at the pool say 'it's just water' and it made me think about our gear checks

I was at the local YMCA pool yesterday, teaching my nephew to swim. This other kid, maybe ten years old, was scared to jump off the side. His friend just shrugged and said, 'Dude, it's just water.' That simple phrase stuck with me the whole drive home. In our line of work, we know it's never 'just water.' It's a work site with zero visibility, currents, and tasks that need perfect focus. That kid's offhand comment made me realize how our daily pre-dive checks are the exact opposite of that mindset. We treat every element, from the O-rings to the comms unit, like it's a critical part of a system that keeps us safe, because it is. It was a good reminder that the respect we have for the environment is what makes a pro. How do you guys mentally shift into that hyper-focused mode before a dive, especially on routine jobs?

Was there last month. Saw the murals for the first time. The one with the dead kid and the gas mask. Felt off. Started looking into it. Found a whole forum thread about the artist. He died right after finishing. Some say it's a coded message. Others say it's just art. Changed how I look at public art now. I don't just walk past it.
