My alt account got nuked because I joked about a mod's vegan lasagna
I had been on this gardening forum for like 3 years, mostly sharing tomato pics and compost tips. Then last Tuesday I posted a silly comment on a mod's lasagna photo saying 'needs more beef, plants are for rabbits.' Within an hour my main account was suspended for 'targeted harassment.' The wild part is I could have just deleted the comment and apologized, but I chose to make a new alt to argue the ban. That alt got flagged in 20 minutes too, and now I realize the whole time I've been trying to win a fight against people who control the server. Has anyone else learned that fighting the ban is way worse than just walking away and starting fresh somewhere else?
Three years on a tomato forum and one lasagna joke took it all down, that part I get. But I gotta say, the ban itself probably was not about the joke. Mods see a hundred dumb comments a day and let most of them slide. What gets you nuked is when they check your history and decide you are a pain, or when the joke lands on the wrong day, or honestly when the mod just woke up grumpy. The part about making the alt to argue is the real lesson here though. That never works, not once, because the person who banned you is also the person who reviews the appeal. It is like filing a complaint about a ref with the same ref. Walking away feels like losing in the moment but it is really just skipping a fight you cannot win.
