inSitting in on a town hall about dive hours left me with more questions than answers
Look, @amyschmidt is right that daylight isn't a magic fix, but we can't just stop night dives. Some jobs, like fixing piers, need those night tides. I get the noise issue, my own kids have trouble sleeping sometimes. But the answer isn't a full ban. We should look at quieter equipment or limit hours, not eliminate them. Pushing people out of work helps no one in the end.

inOur library's new gadget made checking out books a breeze
Self-checkout really does make things faster. You skip the line and just scan your own books. It's a good update for busy libraries.

inAfter my old filter failed on a week-long trek, I learned this
When you mentioned the filter conking out, it got me thinking about another layer to this. Boiling while filtering is smart for time, but it can actually degrade some filters faster if they're not rated for hot water. I learned the hard way that exposing my ceramic filter to boiling temps cracked the element, so now I check specs first. It saves camp hours, but might cost you in filter replacements if you're not careful. Still a great hack, just worth knowing the limits of your gear.
