Showerthought: Binging shows left me with nothing to say at dinner
Honestly, I was at a family meal and my cousin asked about my job. Tbh, I blanked and just talked about a plot twist from 'Stranger Things'. Ngl, it got quiet and I felt so out of place. I see now I lean on show stories when I run out of real chat. It's like my brain is full of episodes but empty for normal talk. So I'm mixing in more podcasts about daily life stuff. Kinda funny how a binge habit can mess with your social skills.

I mean, it happens to me too sometimes. You get so deep into a story that your own life feels kinda boring to talk about. I see it with my students all the time, where their whole world is the latest trend or show. Maybe it's just me, but mixing in podcasts about normal stuff sounds like a really good fix.

Yeah, that binge habit messing with social skills is so real. I see it all the time where people struggle to talk about anything but the shows they watch.

What if the real problem is we've forgotten how to be bored? All this constant watching fills up every quiet minute, so no one has to just sit with their own thoughts anymore. That's where you actually figure out what you really think about stuff, not just react to a plot. No space for boredom means no space to come up with your own stories or ideas to share. It makes your whole inner world just a rerun of someone else's story.
