Shoutout to the week I nailed 20 fire pokers without a single weld fail

Last Tuesday through Friday was my best stretch in the forge so far. I had 20 fire pokers to make for a local hardware store in Eugene. Every single weld held clean and I only had to reheat twice. Normally I mess up at least 3 or 4 on a batch that size. What really made it stand out was the metal was all the same batch and I kept my hammer rhythm steady. Anyone else have a run where everything just clicked for a few days?

I read a post on a blacksmithing forum where a guy said his best runs came from using the same batch of steel with consistent heat. Made me think your rhythm staying steady is probably the real key. That's a solid streak, having 20 straight with no fails is rare in my shop too. How long have you been working with that particular batch of metal?

Funny you mention that-I've been using the same batch so long it's practically part of the family now.
