Watched a guy at a demo in Tulsa quench a 1084 blade in old motor oil, and I want to yell at every new smith about it
That oil flashed and popped the second the steel went in, and he still pulled a cracked edge out of it, so can we please start saying out loud that used motor oil is a fire waiting to happen and not some shop secret?

Tulsa guy almost turned himself into a torch, motor oil is for lawnmowers.
