My bank's fraud bot blocked a $340 rent transfer and then locked me out for 3 days
I chose to use my bank's mobile app instead of calling them when the bot flagged my rent payment, but that option turned out to be a trap because it triggered a security review with no human override. After multiple failed verification attempts via their automated text system, I finally reached a person on day 3 and they admitted the bot had a glitch with my new area code. Has anyone else had to choose between fighting the bot or waiting on hold, and which route actually worked for you?
Did the bank actually admit the bot glitched, or did they just say that to get you off the phone? I had a similar mess with my credit union, except the bot kept reading my zip code wrong from an old address. But here's the thing, you kind of have to use BOTH routes at once sometimes. Call first thing in the morning and leave your phone on speaker while you also try the app's chat feature. That way you're not stuck picking one or the other. Honestly, most of these systems are designed to wear you down, so the trick is just being annoyingly persistent without losing your cool.
