Spent 3 hours trying to sort the Scythe resource tokens by color and shape

My game group was setting up for a session last night and I insisted on organizing all the little plastic pieces before we started. I thought it would take maybe 20 minutes. I was wrong. The factory oil residue made them stick together, and the red and brown ones looked almost identical in the dim light. My friend Dave finally said, "Just dump them in the box, we're here to play." I refused. I ended up using a microfiber cloth and a bright desk lamp to finish the job. Has anyone else wasted a whole evening on setup minutiae?

That bit about "that kind of order is part of the fun" hit me hard because I used to be Dave all the way. I'd show up, throw pieces in a pile, and just want to start rolling dice as fast as possible. But last month I spent two hours sorting the metal coins from the deluxe TI expansion by mint year and now I get it, there's a weird calm that comes from making a mess into something neat and knowing exactly where everything is when the game starts.

I used to be like Dave, but now I get it. That kind of order is part of the fun for me.

Isn't that just how we learn to enjoy things?
