That $5 goodwill game I ignored turned out to be worth $400

My buddy Mike who runs a local game store told me to always check thrift stores for old board games. Last month at Goodwill I saw a dusty copy of Fireball Island for $5. I passed on it because the box was beat up. Found out later from Mike that same game sells for $400 on eBay even with damaged boxes. Has anyone else missed out on a thrift store find that turned out to be a goldmine?

My buddy Mike missed a $3 copy of HeroQuest once because he thought the box was too heavy, and it turned out to have all the expansions inside. @miller.avery, you're not alone in the Google-every-board-game club - my wife caught me doing the same thing with a dusty Trivial Pursuit last week.

and now every time I go to Goodwill I end up googling every dusty board game on the shelf just in case. my wife thinks I'm crazy but I'm not missing out on another Fireball Island moment.
