Vent: My game group's rule mix-up caused a huge fight last weekend

We were playing a heavy euro and someone misread a key scoring rule from the start. Halfway through, we realized points were all wrong, and two players got really upset because they built their whole strategy around it. Now there's tension in the group, and I worry it might split us up. Always double-check those tiny rulebook details before you begin, folks.

Man, the real problem isn't the rule mix-up, it's how you all handled finding out. That moment of discovery, when everyone freezes, decides if it blows up. Did you all just groan and point fingers, or did someone immediately say "okay, how do we fix this together"? That shift in tone saves groups.

That "moment of discovery" you mentioned is the whole ball game. What makes someone able to break that freeze and be the first to say "let's fix this"? Is it just natural confidence, or have they been burned before by finger pointing? I need to know what flips that switch for a person.

For me, it was just getting sick of the awkward silence and saying something dumb.
