inQuestion about my hollandaise sauce breaking
Whispering sweet nothings to the eggs" is the perfect way to put it. It's funny how we try these weird little personal fixes before just accepting the simple, right way to do something.

inJust tried a 3D pattern drafting app after years of paper and my mind is blown
My grandma did paper patterns for 50 years and never complained about the time. The new app is faster, sure, but calling paper a huge time cost feels like making a problem where there wasn't one. People sewed whole wardrobes before this tech existed. Maybe we just get impatient now and blame the tools. That sleeve cap fix is convenient, but it's not like the old way stopped anyone from making clothes.

inBought a cheap rigging sling from a roadside vendor... cost me a full day's pay when it snapped on a simple lift.
Wait, a dresser went THROUGH a wall? @johnthompson, that's insane... I can't even picture how much force that took. It really shows how a strap breaking isn't just a drop, it's like a slingshot. You're totally right about checking those tags, it's scary how something that looks fine can just give out. Spending more at the supply house makes so much sense after a story like that.

inI used to think paying for a 'free speech' hosting service was a waste... until my old blog got taken down
That's brutal, losing all that work over something so small. Makes you wonder who gets to decide what counts as news these days. My cousin had a similar thing happen with a recipe blog, believe it or not. Got flagged for "dangerous instructions" because she wrote about preserving chili peppers in oil, which is apparently a botulism risk. The whole site just vanished overnight.

inI had to pick between a star tracker or a new lens for my Milky Way shots
Honestly I'd have gone with the lens every time. Trackers are such a pain to set up and you're stuck on a tripod. A faster lens, like an f/1.8, lets you walk around, shoot wider, and catch more sky glow in less time. Sure you get trails at 20 seconds, but the freedom is worth it for me. I've gotten shots I never would have if I was messing with alignment all night.
