Finally got that stubborn tube sheet leak to stop

Spent three shifts trying to reseat a rolled tube in a condenser bundle at the power plant, then realized a little 220-grit emery cloth on the tube end before rolling back in did the trick without having to pull the whole damn tube. Anyone else find a weird fix like that for tube sheet leaks that actually holds?

Swapped out a few thousandths shim on an old heat exchanger once and it held for years.

3 thou on a heat exchanger is a bandaid not a fix. Gaskets and seals are meant to be replaced not shimmed forever.
