Hit 500 books in my book club spreadsheet last night and it felt weird

Used to think people who tracked their reading were kinda weird to be honest. Like just read the book and move on, why make it a whole project. But my buddy showed me his spreadsheet last year with all his notes and ratings and stuff and it clicked for me. Now I get it. It's not about bragging or being a completionist. It's like having a little record of where your head was at during each book. When you hit a big round number like that it makes you stop and think about all those stories and what they added up to. Kinda cool actually.

Guess I still kinda fall into the first camp on this one. I get why people do it but it feels like homework to me. Reading is already my escape from lists and spreadsheets and goals, so adding more structure to it just drains the fun out. I figure if a book sticks with me I'll remember it without writing it down, and if it doesn't then honestly who cares. The whole numbers thing makes me feel like I'm competing with myself instead of actually paying attention to the story. Different strokes for different folks, but I'll pass on the tracker life.
