Hot take: My book club nearly fell apart over a missing chapter in the paperback edition.

Last month our group read *The Martian* by Andy Weir. I picked up the paperback cheap from a used store in Denver and it had this weird gap right after the rover scene. Everyone else had the hardcover or ebook and insisted the story flowed fine. I spent three days thinking I was losing my mind until I checked the page numbers against a friend's copy and saw 15 pages were literally missing from the binding. Has anyone else had print quality issues ruin a book club discussion?

Man I don't know, sounds like a pain but also kinda funny how worked up everyone got over a missing chapter. It's a book about surviving on MARS, not a legal document missing a page.

Is it really just about a missing chapter, or does this whole mess say something bigger about how people treat authors of hyped books?

Yeah jesse, it was kinda funny, but I just grabbed the ebook version from the library to fill in the missing pages.
