My book club's fantasy pick turned me into a believer

I always stuck to serious fiction for our meetings, thinking fantasy was just for kids. Then our club voted for a fantasy novel, and I groaned inside. We read 'The Name of the Wind' by Patrick Rothfuss, and I dragged my feet starting it. Once I began, the world-building hooked me fast. The magic system felt real, and the characters had depth I didn't expect. At our debate, everyone pointed out themes about story-telling and truth. Hearing their takes helped me see the genre in a new light. Now I'm pushing for more fantasy reads, and our talks are way more fun.

Seriously, you groaned at fantasy? @schmidt.brooke saw that coming.

Yeah, I heard a podcast where they said fantasy gets a bad rap because people think it's all wizards and dragons. But some of the best stories use magic to talk about real stuff, like power or family. It's not just for kids if you actually give it a chance.

Isn't fantasy for all ages, not just kids?
