Our group in Tampa had a huge fight over the main character's choices in 'The Silent Patient' last Thursday...

We were at Sarah's house and two members got so heated about the twist ending that one person actually left early. I tried to calm things down by asking about the unreliable narrator, but the mood was already ruined. Has anyone else had a book club meeting totally derail like that?

Oh man, what was the fight about? That twist got me too, but I just yelled at my book lol.

My friend's book club completely fell apart over "Gone Girl" a few years back. One person was so mad about Amy faking her diary she called another member a bad judge of character in real life. They had to take a six month break and some people never came back. It's wild how a fictional twist can make real friendships so tense.
