Pro tip: stop calling every minor disagreement in a book a 'plot hole'
I was in a group last week where someone said the main character not locking her door was a plot hole. How do we even discuss themes or character choices if we're just screaming about logic gaps the whole time?

My experience exactly. Not every choice is a plot hole, sometimes it's just bad judgment.

Gently push back on that a little, it's more about the character's logic than bad judgment. In my experience, not locking a door can be a deliberate choice that shows the character's personality or the world's safety level. We lose a lot of depth when we treat every detail like a mistake instead of a storytelling tool.
