Hot take: PVA glue beats wheat paste for book cloth every time
I switched to PVA after my last batch of wheat paste turned my book cloth into a wrinkled mess. Took 3 tries to get a clean cover, never again. Anyone else ditch wheat paste for something else?

Had a buddy who swore by wheat paste for years, swore up and down it was the only way to go. Then he tried making a batch for a big project and forgot to let it cool all the way down. Slathered it on his cloth and it basically started boiling under the covering, bubbled up like a science experiment gone wrong. He had to scrap three panels of expensive linen and start over with PVA. Now he won't even look at wheat paste.

That "wrinkled mess" trouble with wheat paste is exactly why I switched to PVA too. It's funny how we keep using old methods out of habit even when something simpler works better, like how people still insist on hand-washing dishes when a dishwasher does a cleaner job.
