Paper grain direction bit me after 4 years of binding

Last week I made 20 journals with the grain running the wrong way and they all warped by morning. Anyone else have a simple grain check trick that catches this before you cut everything?

once youve got everything cut and folded, try the bend test on a single sheet first. if it curls like a taco, you already know the grain is fighting you. i keep a scrap piece marked with an arrow from every batch of paper now, saved me more times than i can count.
