Pressing with wax paper ruined my endpapers for months
I finally realized last week that I was leaving wax paper in too long after gluing, it stuck to the paper and left greasy spots on 6 projects. A binder at the Portland meetup told me to swap it out for silicone sheets right after pressing, now the finish is clean every time. Anyone else dealt with residue showing up weeks later?
...and honestly the same thing happened to my friend Dave with his bookcloth, he thought he was being clever saving money using parchment from the kitchen and then three weeks later every single cover had these weird shiny streaks. He switched to those cheap silicone baking mats from the dollar store and never looked back, though I did tease him about the time he forgot one under a press and it left a waffle pattern on the spine.
