Fertilizer fight: organic compost vs synthetic mix, my tomatoes picked a side

Tbh I ran a side by side test in my small greenhouse in Ohio for 6 weeks. One row got homemade compost, the other got a 10-10-10 synthetic mix. The synthetic row grew taller faster, but the compost row had way more flowers and the fruit tasted sweeter. My neighbor swears by the liquid stuff and says I'm overthinking it. Anyone else done a real comparison like this, or is it all just soil snobbery in the end?

Compost every time, my tomatoes last year proved it over any chemical mix.
