My lemon tree cutting finally rooted after eight months of nothing

I took a cutting from a friend's lemon tree last summer. I stuck it in a pot with soil and kept it moist in a sunny spot. For months, it just sat there looking like a dead stick. I checked it every week, but there was no change. Then last week, I saw tiny white roots peeking from the drainage holes. It showed me that some plants really test your patience. Has anyone else dealt with a super slow propagation like this?

Yeah, eight months is no joke. I had a rosemary cutting do the same thing, just looked dead for like half a year before it did anything. Plants really run on their own slow clock, and it drives you nuts checking every week. But that moment when you see roots is so worth the wait, like winning a tiny bet against nature.

That lemon cutting was holding out for a better contract or something. I fix cars that move faster than that. You could rebuild an entire engine in the time it takes that plant to make up its mind. Guess plants operate on a totally different calendar, like they're getting paid by the hour.

Always thought plants were quick until this, makes @nguyen.piper's engine look fast.
