Tbh, I walked through the new city park by the river yesterday and the labels on all the trees are completely wrong.

Actually walked that same path last week and the labels seemed spot on to me. The big oak by the bench was clearly marked, and the river birch was right where it should be. Maybe they fixed them since you were there?

Interesting how two people can see the same trail so differently. @bettyk53, maybe you just got lucky with the timing on your walk. Those plastic tags fade and fall off all the time, or someone moves them as a prank. The park service is understaffed, so things stay broken for months. I'd bet money half the labels are still wrong or missing if you go back and really check each one.

Honestly I just take a picture of the map at the trailhead with my phone. That way I can zoom in and check the names myself when I see a tree. The tags are always a mess.
